Chase Direct Mail - Valpak & Insert

Chase ran the same $400 checking bonus offer through two different shared mail (co-op) companies in the same week: Save and Valpak. Both are competing vendors that bundle multiple advertisers into one mailing to split the postage cost.

Piece 1 - Valpak
Arrived inside a Valpak envelope. Chase bought the envelope's own front and back cover ($400 offer on the front, refer-a-friend on the back) plus one of three Chase inserts riding inside, the other two promoting Business Checking and Private Client. The Chase inserts are noticeably heavier paper stock than the other advertisers' inserts in the same envelope.

Piece 2 - Insert (by Save)
A flimsy, single sheet of color paper, no envelope, no address, delivered by USPS with the regular mail. Small print identifies it as "distributed with Save." Same $400 offer: open a Chase Total Checking account, deposit $1,000+ within 90 days. | ![]() |
These options are both far cheaper than traditional direct mail, and it can be a smart way to cost effectively promote an offer - especially for larger brands.
